The Market Abuse Regulation (Art. 17 of Regulation (EU) No 596/2014) obliges certain issuers to inform the public of precise information regarding circumstances not publicly known which directly or indirectly affect the issuer and are likely to have a significant influence on the price of the relevant financial instruments in case the information were to be made public (ad hoc releases). This requirement is intended to ensure that insider knowledge cannot be exploited by trading in the relevant financial instruments.
